Bailey Stowell put in a great shift in midfield to get holders, Rotherfield Bees, into the quarter finals of the BYDL Cup
With only 9 players (Freddie Stewart nursing an injury too!) the Bees found it hard going but got the win they deserved.
Ollie McDonnell's shot from inside the box made it 1-0 to the Bees after 5 mins. The crowd waited for more goals but despite good chances, things slowed. It took a long shot from Bill Bowley to get the deserved 2nd just before half time. Bowley putting in another strong performance.
There were some changes made at half-time with formation and positions as it was clear some boys were getting tired. AFC Caversham got a goal back and again the Bees had several chances to extend the lead and keep things safe but were unable to do so.
A good win in the end, all the boys had to tough it out and showed good character in doing so. The Effort Award went to Bailey Stowell who ran the midfield and was unlucky not to score - a real example of wanting to win!
Well done all!
